force measurement in extensional rheology

Extensional rheology is of high importance for many application properties for polymers. With special equipment (CaBER= Capillary Breakup Extensional Rheometer), it can be measured also for melts or even liquids. In cooperation with Thermo Fisher Scientific we integrated a force measurement in an extisting CaBER rheometer. With this extension, it is now possible to measure not only the resulting thickness after extension, but also the necessary force simultaneously. With this new technique more information about material properties are received, therefore more materials can be distinguished by the new technique.
