BIKE Workshop 4: Catalyst characterization and operando spectroscopy

Organizers: Prof. Dr. Jan-Dierk Grunwaldt (KIT) •  Dr. Anna Zimina (KIT) •  Dr. Maria Casapu (KIT)

BIKE project (https://www.bike-msca.eu/) aims at developing and applying, by an innovative “holistic” approach, the next generation of bimetallic catalysts for energy management, in particular for blue and green hydrogen production processes. In this regard, the knowledge-based development of catalysts is a key to a sustainable progress. Understanding their structural dynamics under reaction and operating conditions is mandatory for the identification of the most active species. Hence, the application of advanced in situ/operando characterization methods represents an essential step.

The workshop will offer a comprehensive overview on the different X-ray spectroscopic methods applied in catalysis, with focus on synchrotron-related methods. By involving experts from complementary disciplines it will cover both fundamental and practical aspects as well as current strategies for elucidating various scientific questions.
